“I see our country as a place of refuge and opportunity, and I see it as a land of many stories… I think that we can actually reset the narrative and make it much more complete.” – Shelagh Rogers

If you love reading and you’ve never heard of this radio program, you’re missing something fabulous. The Next Chapter airs on CBC Radio One every Monday at 1 p.m. (rebroadcast on Saturdays at 4 p.m., and available as a podcast). Hosted by Shelagh Rogers, the program spotlights Canadian writers and songwriters.

Shelagh Rogers is known as a Canadian icon, and the reputation is well-deserved. She was named an Officer of the Order of Canada for her tireless work in promoting Canadian culture, adult literacy, fighting against the stigma of mental illness, and for reconciliation. She’s high on the list of my personal heroes, and I hope that someday she’ll write an autobiography as she’s not only a Canadian icon, but a true Canadian treasure.
