DAY 28: WILLIAM WORDSWORTH – THE EXCURSION

TheExcursion_660

The Excursion is the longest of Wordsworth’s poems to be published in his lifetime, and was developed with his friend, poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge. It’s a dramatic poem in which four characters – a Poet, a Wanderer, a Solitary, and a Pastor – debate over the course of five days. Planned as the centrepiece of a 3-part dramatic epic to have been titled The RecluseThe Excursion is the only poem he completed. You can read the entire poem here.
